Watermark - Hold up the log book to the light. You should see a “DVL” watermark (not “DVLA”) at the top left corner and at different other places on the document. One attestation form should cover each activity. For example, in a period where there was no in-scope driving, a driver would need one attestation to cover other work and another for weekly rest. You can also apply by phone; you cannot apply by post for obvious reasons (you don’t have the log book to post. Some Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) offices - Alice Springs (North Stuart Highway), Gove, Goyder Road, Tennant Creek Spell out the names of the cities completely instead of using abbreviations. But for the states, you may use abbreviations. Driving with a licensed NSW driving instructor – you can record triple the time of your lesson in your log book. For example, if you have a 1-hour lesson, you can log 3 hours of driving practice.
You can apply by phone if you’re the registered keeper on the V5C that’s gone missing or is damaged.
For fixed weeks (00:00 hrs Monday to 24:00 hrs Sunday) when no in-scope driving takes place, the DVSA will accept one or more records for the whole week, as opposed to requiring 7 daily records. Records must identify all the weekly rest periods within that fixed week. Article 6(5) of retained Regulation (EC) 561/2006) requires manual records to be kept of all work (including out of scope driving and any other work) and periods of availability, using either the manual inputs on a digital/smart tachograph or by making a manual record on a record sheet (from analogue tachographs) or on printout paper (from digital tachographs). You cannot apply by phone if any of your details or your vehicle’s details have changed. The details must not be different from the information in the missing or damaged V5C.
