About this deal

He's from Oldham and was a bit of an accident, meaning that he essentially grew up like an only child with siblings who were much older.

I’d speak about the fear I was going to be murdered in the house, that Edward Scissorhands thing, this feeling of looking over my shoulder. Meeting Amy Winehouse before she got big, ending up at a Madonna party with his parents, and getting life advice off Kate Moss while she eats bread and butter - it's insane what he's done but yet he makes it seem normal, and reminded me that celebrities are just people too and he approached all these situations with that attitude. These are Grimmy's brilliant, nostalgic coming-of-age tales, covering life's pivotal moments, the loves, the losses, and the fun had with the family and friends that made him.

I cried in my kitchen while I made a batch of soup and smiled along the lakefront hearing him talk about his family and his childhood and his dreams. The people he's friends with and the situations he got into don't come across as braggy or like he's name-dropping, instead it reads in such a way that it's like you're watching this young guy find his feet in a new city at a time when there was a lot less judgement and things weren't so polished. The various chapters focussing on different aspects/moments/people in his life were diverse and intriguing.Although I can't relate to any of this (other than growing up in the north) there was something so familiar about what he was writing. Around a campfire as they prepared to set off, he told his fellow celebrities he’d “been to a spin class recently – it can’t be harder than spin with a hangover”. Sometimes I felt like his descriptions felt a bit too literary for the type of book and trying to fit in too many adjectives, but perhaps this would be unnoticeable if reading it over listening. It's not a spicy tell-all on the perils of being mildly famous and the thrill of talking absolute breeze on the radio for 14 years.

You know the feeling when you watch The One Show, and pop out to walk the dogs and you see in other houses, they’re watching The One Show, too? About the Author: Radio and TV broadcaster, Nick Grimshaw, began his career on T4 and went on to join BBC Radio 1, working his way up to present the coveted breakfast show in 2012.When he told friends he was writing a book, most of them quickly asked if they could come to the party. Right now I've just got my exams back making me a senior journalist so the world is my oyster and who knows what's I've got ahead of me. These are Grimmy’s stories of things gone right and wrong across his life and career so far, with all the highs and lows and everything in-between.
