About this deal

Outside the football pitch, Jordan's won plaudits for his support for the LGBT+ community and, during Covid, for the NHS, contributing towards his appointment of an MBE in 2021. From taking the reins from Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain,to lifting the Champions League trophy and winning the Premier League, his years as a leader have been more eventful than entire careers. Inspirational and insightful in equal measure with great stories peppered throughout, taking you on a trip down recent memory lane.

Under his captaincy, Liverpool have won six trophies headed by the Champions League and the Premier League, bringing the club its first league title in 30 years. Nonetheless, it was a fairly easy read and was naturally well written, given the strengths of King and Holt, so not a total dud. The writing is often repetitive (in language and in content), and overall the book is pretty superficial, rarely going into much depth. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Reading this whilst the team goes through a period of adversity just acts as a reminder of what this group of players and manager have overcame in the past, what they've already achieved together, and what they will achieve in the future.Full of heartache, excitement and triumph, this is a candid insight into the life of a top-flight footballer as you've never read before. I can't help but feel that this book summarises up Jordan's character - unflinching and brutally honest, whilst deploying a warmth. More importantly, it's also a lesson in perseverance, hard work, self-belief, leading by example and always trying to do the right thing. Very well written, focusing on the important parts and very respectful to the other players and managers he's worked with. Finished Jordan Henderson's autobiography over the weekend and it's a great read for all LFC fans - a must read in fact.

Captain, father, leader, a fearless ambassador for the causes he believes in and a world-class midfielder, Jordan Henderson is all of these things - and it is why he is one of the most widely respected players of his generation. Calendar arrived safely in plastic-free packaging - which I've not seen before with a calendar, so kudos for that. However, I’m not sure I truly learned anything about Henderson, nor the success of the Liverpool team in recent years. In this tell-all autobiography, Jordan reveals how his early love for the game as a kid became an all-consuming passion that led him to follow his dream - to play for his home club of Sunderland. Also could not stop laughing at the story of Trent’s mum not allowing him to get a tattoo after winning the champions league (despite it being Trent’s idea) or Hendo’s recollection of Virgil first arriving at Anfield looking a million dollars (“even his hair was perfect and I thought to myself, ‘He’s got to be good. I will just say that if you're looking to get to know Jordan Henderson more from a personal aspect, then this isn't that book. I hope he publishes another autobiography when his career is over, so we can get more insights into the national team, his clubs, and his upbringing. Through injury and setbacks, both personal and professional, what emerges is the story of someone who frequently battled against the odds as well as his critics to achieve success for his club and supporters, someone for whom a passion for the game and for his team never wavered.

The narrative is pretty boring, and it fails to propely display his experiences when winning differents trophies.Dominic King and Oliver Holt, who ghost wrote this book, are good reporters whose work I respect, but I found the book to be lacking in any great depth. This is not an autobiography in which the subject blows his own trumpet for the entire book, Jordan mentions many many people who have been influential in his life and career.

Henderson has also been a long-standing player with the England team, playing under Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson and Gareth Southgate. Jordan doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know and appears like his career is overshadowed by his self confidence and constantly blowing smoke up other footballers backsides I found myself eye rolling throughout the book and I like Jordan as a footballer who gets less credit he really deserves. Whether his focus is on himself, on crucial moments during games or behind the scenes, or in exploring the impacts of the pandemic and politics on football over the last few years, there is a consistent honesty and insight which makes it a fascinating and inspiring book to read. Off the field he is a fearless ambassador, with his role in backing the NHS following his work during the COVID-19 pandemic and unifying players across the Premier League to support NHS Charities Together. In this book, Jordan charts his decade-long journey with the Reds – he is one of only five men to play ten season for the club in the modern era – as well as his incredible experiences within the England squad.
