Textrol may only be applied to bare wood surfaces or a weathered wood that was previously finished with Textrol. All other oils or sealers must be completely and thoroughly removed with a wood oil remover such as Owatrol’s Aquanett and then the surface must be cleaned and neutralised with Net-Trol before applying Textrol. If necessary sand the surface after cleaning and stripping (80 grit paper). After cleaning, allow the wood to dry for 2-3 days before finishing. Previously coated surfaces NOTE: Any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Textrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. These must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water filled metal container, before disposing with household waste. Maintenance Wood that has weathered longer than 12 months or turned grey should be cleaned with Owatrol Net-Trol to remove all loose wood fibres, dirt and other surface contamination before applying Owatrol Textrol.

Once your surface is prepared, the application process is much the same as Textrol. Begin applying the D1 with a brush or roller (please note a sprayer is only suitable for maintenance coats and not for initial application in this case) and be sure to work in sections which you can complete in around 15 minutes (for fences this is relatively easy as you can just work in individual panels or 2 or 3 panel sections depending on your application speed – always work in whole panels though). As with Textrol, continue to apply wet-on-wet applications of Deks Olje D1 until the wood is saturated and ensure that it does not dry out inbetween coats.Textrol HES has a luxurious matt-sheen finish which enhances the grain and natural beauty of the wood. As it is penetrative and its place is not on the surface it will not peel or flake as it doesn’t form a film. Why use Textrol HES?
