About this deal

A surreal parody of Star Trek: Enterprise. The pilot has been released, as well as a 90-second trailer. It was conveyed that the reason CBS was reaching out to me was due to the legal troubles stemming from the Axanar case. Again, CBS did not have to reach out personally. The message I received felt more like they were giving me a heads up before we got too involved in another project, rather than a group of angry executives swinging a hammer. a b "A message from the Renegades team regarding the new fan film guidelines – Renegades". Johnson and Darrell Bratz, with Johnson producing and directing. It primarily parodies Star Trek: The Next Generation, although it also pokes fun at Max Headroom, Doctor Who, William Shatner, and Harlan Ellison. The film premiered at the Norwescon science fiction convention in March 1988, and won best film at the convention's film festival. While it was arguably an adversary to the quainter, OG movie Enterprise, the Excelsior's sleek design was a hit with fans and remains one of the most popular and recognizable starships in the Star Trek Universe... According to the Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual, there was also a Constitution-class USS Excelsior in service in the mid-23rd century, with the registry NCC-1718. In conversations with Eidelman, Meyer mentioned that since the marches that accompanied the main titles for the previous Star Trek films were so good, he had no desire to compete with them by composing a bombastic opening. He felt that since the film was darker than its predecessors, it demanded something different musically as a result. He mentioned the opening to Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird as similar to the foreboding sound he wanted. Two days later Eidelman produced a tape of his idea for the main theme, played on a synthesizer. Meyer was impressed by the speed of the work and the close fit to his vision. [33] Meyer approached producer Steven Charles-Jaffe with Eidelman's CD, which reminded Jaffe of Bernard Herrmann; Eidelman was subsequently given the task of composing the score. The Excelsior herself only appeared in a handful of films and a single episode of television, but her sisters in the Excelsior-class line of starships enjoyed unparalleled ubiquity in the franchise, notably showing up in countless episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, as basically any old Federation vessel, and appearing in Star Trek Generations, gloriously slash cost-effectively redesigned to portray the USS Enterprise-B. a b Gardner, Eriq (December 30, 2015).
